Sustainability Appraisal
Our Environmental Policy is responsible for overseeing the Sustainability Appraisal (SA) process. This is an important part of the structure of allarb Ltd. This system is designed to undertake Sustainability Appraisals of all sites which are used as access and recreation with the overall aim to enhance biodiversity, landscapes and wildlife in rural, urban, costal and marine areas. This helps to promote access, recreation and public well being as well as excellent management policies for the future.
Environmental Policy
How Green Are We?
Climate change affects everyone, and allarb Ltd is committed to helping to preserve our planet for future generations.
Reducing Waste
Ensuring whenever possible that any materials or arising's as a result of work undertaken are recycled or reused, in order to reduce the level of waste generated.
Buying Locally
Buying and selling locally means that you don't have to make long journeys by car to collect items, and goods posted won't need to be taken as far, so this helps to cut down on pollution.
Carbon Offsetting
The electricity that your computer is using while you are reading this will be emitting CO2 (carbon dioxide) into the atmosphere somewhere down the line.
By using the results of some research into the power consumption of an average PC that was carried out by Oxford University, we can calculate the amount of CO2 that your computer is emitting while reading this and offset it.
|
Each tree that we plant will offset around 730kgs of CO2 in its lifetime and in September 2008 we planted 6 trees in the UK, offsetting 4.38 tonnes of CO2.
Our carbon footprint has now been on our website for over two years and since then we have calculated on average that we plant 4 trees every month.
Where possible our transport costs are at a minimum and at all times we try and leave wood waste on site or recycle as a next instance.
